About 3 years ago, I came across Gala Darling’s blog all about Radical Self Love and really loved her content, attitude and vibe. Before that I couldn’t imagine that someone could talk about magic rituals, moon phases and sex without having an ancient blog with black background, named after some Medieval witch. It didn’t take me long to become a fan and start buying her online products one by one…
Art is a topic that has always fascinated me and as most of the things we truly love, I’ve deeply neglected it, in the name of the things “I should” be doing. In my quest of feeling more like an artist, I thought I’d begin with “feeling art”.
If I ask you what do you want, what’s the first thing that comes to your mind? What do you want? Why do you want it? Your goal isn’t that new makeup, isn’t that new car, it’s how they’ll make you feel. It’s not what you want, it’s why you want it. How it’s going to make you feel, how it’s going to make your life better. It’s all about the why…

The ultimate expression of maturity, appears to be “knowing what you want” and then figure out how to get it. In other words be a “go getter”. But the truth is, we receive so many contradictory signals all day long, that’s so easy to get confused and actually not knowing what you want. That’s totally fine! There is a quick way to find out, if not for really deep and philosophical matters, at least for simple everyday things in life.
ABOUT JULY ISSUE
Whenever July arrives I get some anxiety that the summer is flying by, without me noticing! But, hey, it’s just the beginning, right? (right??)
Admittedly this is my laziest issue ever! I tried a couple of times to film the videos I had planned, but it was the freaking hottest days of the year, I was boiling, and my air conditioning was way too loud for the video. ‘Fun’ fact: I only discovered how loud it was, after I’d filmed 3 of them… So I deleted everything and didn’t have the inspiration and motivation to do it all over again… Some of the ideas, you’ll see in the next issue (which won’t be sooo lazy!) and some you might never see from me…

I WANT TO FEEL RADICAL SELF LOVE
Back to “Radical Self Love”. This has been Gala’s signature title, with several courses run online and off and her first book which also has the same title, “Radical Self Love”. About 3 years ago, I came across her blog and really loved her content, attitude and vibe. Before that I couldn’t imagine that someone could talk about magic rituals, moon phases and sex without having an ancient blog with black background, named after some Medieval witch. It didn’t take me long to become a fan and start buying her online products one by one. I got the Radical Self Love Bootcamp, the Radical Self Love Bible, Dare Dream Do, Radical Self Love Letters and of course her book.
Back then, of course I read all of the content and did some of the suggested tasks, but apparently I wasn’t ready to fully commit and do all the exercises as I supposed to. I only read the facts, the theory and resisted to actually do the work. It’s such a pity, but I admittedly have done this with quite some online courses…
But now, with the help of my beloved Julia Cameron, it seemed like the right time to try the whole thing again! This is the main reason I love online classes. They’re yours to keep, you can work with them as many times as you need to and the best part: every time you reach for the content, you see it with fresh eyes, you gain something new, it resonates with you in a deferent level.
So, last month, I took again all Gala’s courses in a more intensive pace, as I took at least a lesson a day, while listening to her audiobook and through doing all the exercises for the first time, I’ve collected some very interesting insights to work on. I plan to tell you more about the whole process, later in the summer, when my “Artist’s way” program finishes.
The -happily- weird thing about Gala Darling and her content, is that every time I dig through it I have a natural tendency for all things hot pink and rainbows. It just feels right, I can’t help it!
In case you’re not familiar with Gala Darling, she’s from New Zealand an one day she decided to radically change her life and among the things she changes was: the country she lived in (and continent, moving all the way to New York, her name and got rid off depression and eating disorder. Talk about radical changes!

I WANT TO FEEL ART
Art is a topic that has always fascinated me and as most of the things we truly love, I’ve deeply neglected it, in the name of the things “I should” be doing. In my quest of feeling more like an artist, I thought I’d begin with “feeling art”. This must be one of the easiest feelings to achieve. I simple dedicate some time every day (well, in most days, to be honest) to engage with art.I’ve found very interesting resources and ideas, that sometimes overwhelm me, but it’s always so liberating to be reminded that everything we need is right on our fingertips! I learn something new through documentaries, books and blogs or create something even if it’s a silly watercolour painting with awkwardly mixed colours by me and my kid.
Even though I love and respect art so much, I’ve never been able to express or explain why it’s important and how people benefit from art, besides from having something nice to look at. The video below is an excellent answer in this question.
I WANT TO FEEL WHY

If I ask you what do you want, what’s the first thing that comes to your mind? Is it material? Is it a car, new makeup, new makeup, new curtains? What do you want? Take those first answers and just think “why?”, why do you want it? Your goal isn’t that new makeup, isn’t that new car, it’s how they’ll make you feel. It’s not what you want, it’s why you want it. How it’s going to make you feel, how it’s going to make your life better. It’s all about the why.
Going deeper, why do you do what you do? Why you keep working on a work that you don’t love? Why are you saying yes when you mean no? What are the reasons behind the things you do that you don’t actually want to do? And I don’t mean about responsibilities anyone has, like walking the dog or feeding your kid. I mean other things, things that you actually could avoid. Why are you doing them? What are you afraid of? This has to be deep, I know.
From the things that you do, to the things that you don’t. Why don’t you do things that you know would be good for you? Why don’t you exercise daily? You know that it will make you feel better physically and emotionally. You know what’s best for you. Better food choices, better job choices, better choices on your friends even. Why won’t you let yourself grow? What’s behind that self-sabotaging? Again, I know it’s deep. It has to be, but you don’t have to resolve anything now. This is just an introduction. It’s all about the why. That’s all I want you to keep from this session. It’s all about the why.
I DON’T KNOW HOW I WANT TO FEEL
We are wired to think what we most don’t want -it’s not you, or me, it’s human nature- and even though this seems as a flaw, it’s actually the way to know how you want to feel. Simply think of what you don’t want, what you hate, what you’d love to change/ get rid of/ run away from right now and then reverse it to a positive statement. For example: “I don’t want to feel blue” turns into “I want to feel joyful”, “I don’t want to remember that thing even happened” turns into “I want to set myself free from this memory (you won’t actually forget the event, but you might be able to see it from another perspective, from a distance).

I’m here to create shortcuts to the feelings we want to feel using my content and favourite places online and off. My goal is to immerse you in the experience of your own feelings, through things as simple as reminding you how much you love that bright lipstick (and that you should wear it more often), but also as deep as pieces of phycology, philosophy, poetry and art.
